Great Sleep = Success!

The Uber Important Sleep Cycle, for many, gets mucked about when they get really stressed out.

Ask anyone who religiously wakes up between 2-3am, just how much stress is currently in their life, and you will be astounded by the answers you get. (BTW that 2-3am is an overburdened liver thing.)

If you don’t sleep well, managing conflict & relationships within the gets a whole lot more trickier. In fact life gets a whole lot more stickier than it needs to be. It is like the perfect storm really.

Stress >> affects sleep >> lack of sleep affects relationships (and potential conflict). Consistent conflict >> stress. And around and round it goes.

So, what’s your ideal happy sleep number. And what is your current sleep number that you are hitting consistently at night time?
Let's take a look at the amount of hours that gets you well prepped for the next day.

Some Scientific Fun facts about sleeping:

  • 0 hours sleep = you are as cognitively impaired as if you were intoxicated

  • 4 hrs sleep = 300% more likely to catch a cold

  • 5 hrs = you lead a higher risk to developing Alzheimers

  • 6 hrs sleep = If you don’t manage at least 6.5 hrs of sleep the brain won’t consolidate 40% of your memories from the day.

  • Less than 6 hrs of sleep = cardiovascular fitness drops by 30% when you don’t get enough sleep

Furthermore, improper sleeping habits affect the way the brains glymphatic system functions (garbage disposal of the brain)…anyone say “brain fog”?

If you aren’t sleeping enough at night your body doesn’t get the time it needs to repair & heal.

Which means; your immune system can crash

You brain slows down

You start ageing faster…and so on and so on.

Even worse news is that checking your phone immediately upon waking forces your brain to skip the important theta and alpha stages, priming your brain for distraction during the working day. So imagine this on top of a bad nights sleep?
